The Spokane Valley Heritage Museum is located in an historic Valley Landmark, the Opportunity Township Hall. The Township Hall was built in 1912 to be used as the governmental building for Township business. The Township form of government lasted from 1909 until 1974.

The Opportunity Township Hall is now on the State and National Historic Registers. The Hall is the last remaining Township Hall in the State of Washington. Opportunity Township Hall served the Valley population as a center of community activity and is the most appropriate place to house the history and culture of the Spokane Valley.
